PIREP - Stark Avionics

As much person, I appreciate pireps from individuals with knowledge of shops you use (positive or negative) and like to offer my experience to the thought on others also. After a so-so experience within a recent avionics install, I came across myself seeking an alternate avenue for your setting up a brand new transponder for ADS-B compliance. I called two local shops first. The price of one was very high i actually busted out laughing over the phone as though I were in a comedy bar. He was apparently significantly less amused when i. I was telling the storyline of my local quote to some friend on the airport and he recommended that I call John Stark at Stark Avionics for a quote. In doing my required research before calling John, I browsed Mooneyspace and BT for pireps around the shop. In doing so, I came across a truly terrible pirep on Stark Avionics. (Search in BT if you need to read it). This pirep caused me serious worry about if you should call Stark for the quote.

I posted an over-all query for recommendations on an avionics shop and received another recommendation for Stark from another MSer (Oldguy). He and I spoke in reference to his knowledge of Stark and that i decided to give John a trip using the two recommendations I from trusted sources. I was open with John regarding my concerns amongst the negative pirep on MS and the fact that I was gun shy based on the previous experience. As they always say, there are two sides to each and every story and John took his time for it to explain his side in my experience like me certain are experts in happy to do with other people who want to phone him and need rest. Our conversation shifted from the pirep to pricing. John and i also discussed different equipment options, what can are perfect for my needs/wants as well as the one-time fee installed price for every option. We ultimately decided to install the Stratus ESGi for ADS-B in/out. John quoted me a soft price, but was at the start the number might be slightly higher if your tray was riveted in (as numerous Mooneys are). I attended manchester airport that night, took pictures and confirmed that my trays were attached with screws and forwarded those pictures to John. John responded in a very timely manner and confirmed the one-time fee price to the equipment and install written and we scheduled the install date and pickup date. The plane ended up being be dropped off the Sunday after Thanksgiving. John said he'd have everything ready by Tuesday, but I opted to schedule the pickup for Wednesday in the event there were some snags as you go along.
